The research problem
In private markets, the headline is often easier to find than the underlying evidence. A company may have an attractive growth story while its latest accounts, ownership rights or cash-flow history are incomplete. Research must begin by separating what can be checked from what remains an assertion.
The first task is to define the precise business and security being examined. A company name alone does not identify the share class, the rights attached to it, the applicable transfer conditions or the date of any indicative valuation.
Five dimensions of a defensible review
Financial strength examines operating performance, funding needs and cash generation. Growth quality examines whether expansion converts into durable economics. Valuation context makes assumptions and comparability explicit. Governance and transparency examine the reliability of corporate information. Liquidity looks at transfer rights and the possibility that an exit might not be available.
BELLZERO organises these ideas into an illustrative five-part research framework. These dimensions are not automated buy signals. A category with insufficient evidence should remain unscored instead of being assigned a plausible-looking number.
Build an evidence register
Every material observation should connect to a source, financial reporting period and retrieval date. An evidence register records the document type, relevant figure or passage, limitations, and whether the observation is a reported fact, analyst interpretation or scenario assumption.
Conflicting statements should be preserved rather than silently reconciled. A useful report tells readers which values cannot be compared, which accounting adjustments were made and which questions require primary-document confirmation.
Conclusions that can survive scrutiny
The final output should make uncertainty visible alongside the findings: a business overview, financial trend, valuation scenarios, governance observations, liquidity constraints, unresolved questions and a change log. Any illustrative score must show the variables behind it.
Research is not a substitute for independent professional, legal or tax advice. Nor does a research listing prove the availability of shares, a purchase price or a future public listing.
Questions worth asking.
- What can be verified?
- What assumptions are driving value?
- What evidence is missing?
